SHIVA Final Fantasy XIII / Play Arts Kai

Congratulations Play Arts!!!

No, not for making this toy, but for making me find the limit of HOW MUCH I WAS CAPABLE OF SPENDING IN A FUCKING TOY.

This is not exactly the best thing to do with 242 USD, but I'm pretty used to pay ridiculous amounts for toys in this country. So, I got a great deal. I've seen this thing for more than 500 USD around. So, If you live in one of those places where you can just walk into a toys-R-us and grab one, consider yourself a lucky collector.

So, from the Square Enix video game I believe I'll never play, comes Snow's summon: SHIVA, the les-bike.

I was saving to get me a 360, but decided (since I knew this would be released) that the Xbox money would go to this. To hell with VGs; anyway, I'm getting old and they don't have the same effect on me anymore. I've never been the kind of Videogame guy, and I don't want to start now; there are several things I don't mean to neglect.

Lesbo partay!!!

This MASSIVE future chopper is formed by two les-bots... I don't remember the individual names right now, but ohwell, they're artificially sexy.

These girls stand around 16" tall and a lot of things happen at the same time all over them. the detail is AMAZING and there's a remarkable job with the paint app.

the girls are not very heavy, but there is NO WAY they can stand on they own, so they come with a couple of individualized cool looking bases that actually work, not like the weak ones that come with the 9" figures of the line.

Trying to transform them is somewhat fun.

If you have a dirty mind, you will see why.

Did I need this???

YES and YES. A Gigeresque scissoring action lesbike combiner... I would be frustrated if this overpriced cool looking piece was not in my filthy claws. This can be considered a holy grail and is now the centerpiece of my collection.

Squier: Bullet Strat PINK.

Since I don't do music for a living, I can consider this as hobby toy.

Yes, it's one of those cheap good looking Squiers.

There is nothing to hate about these guitars and I don't have much to say about it, only that's it's PINK and among 4 black guitars, this looks a little weird in my apartment, but who cares? I don't.

Besides, only real men get to play PINK guitars.

Specs?
-Laminated PINK body
-21 jumbo fret maple neck with a rosewood fingerboard.
-Chrome covered (weak) tuners.
-3 single-coil pickups.
-Non-tremolo hardtail bridge.
-5-way switching.

To be honest, this is not be most comfortable guitar for ME; not because of the color, but I'm used to the Ibanez RG action and speed; besides something to consider is the incapability of the tuners to do their job keeping the instrument in tune, but it's not such a big deal, since I'm used to the edge floating bridges that can be a real pain.

This is not a CLEAN sounding guitar, actually the pickups make some feedback but this comes just good to many music styles.

Did I need this???

NO, but I really wanted a pink guitar to go with the other 4 black ladies.

Bahamut SIN. FF7 Advent Children.

From Square Enix, the Final Fantasy 7: Advent Children movie is what woe should have gotten initally instead of the "Spirits Within" cool looking fiasco.

Anyway, I'm not here to review anything just to take out of my chest the buyer's remorse, specially when buying a pricey, used and broken figure as the FF Creatures: Bahamut Syn.

"The Graceful dragon comes again… this time in the form of Bahamut-Sin! Appearing in various forms across the Final Fantasy series, Bahamut returns in the Upcoming DVD release of Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children. Measuring approximately 7" tall (with a display base), Bahamut-Sin is a marvel of design and deco! This monster was sculpted for Kotobukiya by Takayuki Takeya. Window box packaging."

This must be, if not the smallest, one of the tinyest and lest impressive bahamut made by Play Arts. BUT this doesn't mean it's not cool. It's one of the most detailed Play Arts toy... *ahem* statue with moving arms I've seen to date.

It's 7 inches tall and made of solid plastic... vinyl I believe. The sculpt is amazing and the paint app is very well done. There are some clear colored plastic details on the wings that give this handsome guy a plus.

Did I need this???

YES, from the very first moment I knew it existed, so after several years of looking for one, I finally find it at a decent price.

Arrrggg!!!

Hypnos: The God of Sleep. Bandai Cloth Myth.

The God of Sleep.

Wiki says: “The Greek god Hypnos is the personification of sleep and slumber, and the twin brother of Thanatos, the Greek god who personifies death and mortality. In the Saint Seiya mythos, although he is a subordinate of Hades, the Emperor of the Darkness and ruler of the Underworld, he is a deity with all attributes, and as his lord, he is a sworn enemy of the protector goddess of the Earth, Athena.”

Blah blah blah the end of the world, blah blah blah, doom, destruction and mayhem, blah blah blah.

Another design of the God Cloths (BIG boxes) from the Saint Seiya Hades series. Not only this looks classy, but somehow creepy.

Packed in a standard book style window box, The body is G3 with a large amount of articulation as usual. The figure is all plastic except for the feet which are made of die cast metal to match the armor.

As always, these guys seem to suffer alimentary disorders but it's for the armor to fit just right all over them.

This is a different sculpr for the head than thanatos; this one is corsseyed and looks stupid. The armor is a bitch to fit and has some quality issues; it's the first time I experience something like this with a cloth myth figure. The wings are all plastic, the same as the inner skirt.

Anyway, like Thanatos, Hypnos’s Cloth is equally as ornate. In classic art the God of sleep, Hypnos is traditional presented with peacock feathers and in a nod to that Hypnos’s Cloth comes styled with the peacock feathered motif. It sounds silly but it looks rather neat, especially in its object mode.

I'm feeling sleepy... I'll finish with this later. *yawns*

The result overall is beautiful, especially in it’s object mode. Some may say that the rounded edges look stupid, but that's the intention, this is a fucking peacock.

Did I REALLY need this???

NO, this is my second most expensive toy EVER and it's not as near as cool as his brother, but oh well.

Vanille and Shruberry. Final Fantasy XIII

Play Arts Kai final Fantasy 13

VANILLE AND LIGHTNING

Thanks to a good canadian friend, Scott (AKA Peter Peeker), I was able to get this pink haired figure: Play Arts Kai Lightning.

The figure in this new line are supposed to be bigger and better looking.

Lightning and Vanille look like a spokesmodel showing off some designer's new collection. They're built like the girls you see Vanity and Cosmo magazines, with long limbs, a long body, a tiny waist, and little itty-bitty hands and feet.

It's rare that you see a toy of this scale with this much articulation with such a detailed sculpt. Even some 1/6 scale figures don't have the kind of detail Play Arts worked into this. These new figures have all kinds of little features that really get my geeky juices flowing. Pockets, pouches, belts and buckles, the sculpted hands (with a second pair of fists), the hair and the scarf, buttons and boot laces.

There are lots of functional (and annoyingly evident) points of articulation that help get these girls in almost any position; imagination sets the limits.

The scuplpting is really impressive, so as the paint apps, but these suffer from the same little imperfections of the other Play Arts figures.

Did I need these???

YES, hell YES. Muchas gracias Scott.

The "educational" toys do it again.

Would you buy these to your children???

Bitch had it coming. That's not the right way to handcuff a playmobil toy with sideburns.

Iron Man: 6" War Machine. Walmart Exclusive.

Why does the best Hasbro figure ever made has to be an exclusive???

'Nuff said.

From the big movie for the summer Iron Man 2, Hasbro brings the Ironman liye yeta again, mostly flooding the stores with those little good looking 4" stuff.

But those don't work for me very much; I think most folks are just overloaded with that scale at this point, and are waiting for something fresh.

Who would have thought that the 6" scale would ever be 'fresh'? But with so few movie related releases in that scale the last couple years, collectors have been thirsting for its return. Hasbro is doing it up with a series in this size for the new movie, and the first two have started hitting Wal-marts - War Machine and the Mark VI suit.

I have no idea if this would be an international release, since these have not showed up outside the boarders of the US, as far as I know. The first movie's exclusive, however, did hit stores in México. But I coulnd't just wait and trust Walmart on this one. Again, thanks to tatoman, I'm the proud owner of the best hasbro figure ever made.

Let´s see:

Sculpt: Great
Articulation: Great
Paint app: Not too shabby, but not a big deal either.
Playability: Great.
Packaging: I don't care, I'm a filthy opener.
Value: For 10 USD??? GREAT.

Did I need this???

Are you kidding me??? This one is a flawless victory!!!

Coraline Dolls by NECA.

At last!!! Thanks to Oscar (tatoman 525) who offered a great deal for these.

I didn't even knew these existed, I got this as I dig character design and like the film; like it very much.

I don't even think I would consider it a toy versus a doll that you would perch somewhere simply to appreciate their aesthetic value.

Overall, these are well made, beautiful, chanming and lovely. However, there is no body underneath the clothes, so do not get the idea that this is going to be a cuddly sort of toy for a youngster.

The only watch out is that the eyes can be off. You can move them with your fingers or taking off the face plate.

So, the bendy body is poseable but not as much as I expected, the wires inside feel fagile and there is no way these girls can stand by their own without the base (included).

Did I need these???

Oh hell yeah. I just wouldn't be happy right now.
